This week, we will find ourselves with the determination to let things in the past be. The lunar eclipse, full Moon, Mercury retrograde, and transition into Gemini season will heighten our intuition, helping us brush the dirt off our shoulders and let our minds be free so we can arrive at a weightless spirit. The week’s energies will bring us a humble heart and an opening of ourselves to a new direction that offers sustainable peace.

Full Moon and lunar eclipse in Scorpio

On May 15 and 16, 2022, a lunar eclipse will coincide with the full Moon in the sign of Scorpio. A lunar eclipse happens when the Sun and Moon are at exactly opposite sides of the Earth, bringing balance to our energies. The main theme for eclipse season is to listen to the rhythm and pace of your life. Eclipses reveal where we are currently stuck and where we need to bring balance into our life. They lend us a higher perspective, drawing us into introspection so we can end cycles, close doors, and get clear on what choices we need to make in order to move forward.

These combined energies will lead us into our unconscious. Ruled by water, Scorpio takes us straight into the most intimate places where we can summon our emotions. Scorpio seeks the truth. It gets us lean into the feels and pushes us to do something about what we uncover. We are getting connected to the places we could use a little love and tenderness. As we ride these waves, we may be treading water, paddling, swimming to the best of our ability. Sometimes at deep peace, sometimes in total chaos, sometimes in quiet stillness, sometimes reveling in the ride. Life is best lived in balance. Water can become the peacemaker, clearing and cleansing in all the right places.

This time is ruled by the eighth house, the house of transformation, death and rebirth, karma and debt, and regeneration. The invitation is to reprioritize our lives. The past can immerse itself in the present in an unhealthy way when we keep it close and let it define who we are.

With this full Moon and total lunar eclipse, we are being provided a doorway to self-acceptance, a release of pressure, and a welcoming to who we are allowing ourselves to become.

Gemini season begins

As we transition into Gemini on May 20, we will find ourselves open to flexibility. An air sign, Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the planet that represents the power of thought, how we perceive, and how we make sense of our world. Gemini season initiates the mental strength we need as we learn a new way of thinking and making choices based on our instincts.

Geminis feel everything and everyone. They are very intuitive and have a keen ability to know, flow, and go whatever is necessary. They prefer transparency and like to know all the things so they can understand what, why, and how things are happening. Represented by the twins, they strive for unity, as above so below, the dark and the light. One cannot exist without the other. Gemini season allows us to see where we need cohesiveness in our worldly and our spiritual lives, helping us gain more trust that our inner knowing knows how to lead us safely and effectively.

Finding balanced energy can be hard for Geminis. They can be a little moody when they haven’t had the time to rest, be low-key, and process all they have taken in. Tupac was a Gemini along with many other great artists, including Miles Davis, Paul McCartney, Lenny Kravitz, Blake Shelton, Stevie Nicks, Lauryn Hill. Each of these talented souls learned to channel their moods into artistic creation. When we turn our pain into self-empowerment, we create something valuable and helpful for others. Anger, frustrations, hopelessness, grief, pain, hurt, trauma, when channeled into a healthy outlet, can be very cathartic, generating healing.

Mercury retrograde

Mercury is currently retrograde until June 3, kicking up a desire for stillness so we can reflect on what’s in our hearts that needs to be heard. Mercury retrograde slows our minds so we can listen in silence, so we can hear when the answers come. It gives us an opportunity to slow down so we can take notice and be in the present.

Mercury is the planet of messages. Synchronicities are keys to an inner unlocking of insight, fresh perspective, and to see clearly what needs to be seen. Signals, signs, and aha moments come in interesting packages. Did you just get everything calm and suddenly you experience car trouble? Has an old way of doing things resurfaced to see if you still want to dance? Have you been brought to the same memory or person lately? Check in with what is trying to be shared, healed, or understood.

Mercury retrograde allows us to take the hands of the wheel, releasing the grips of attachments to old stories, old beliefs, old ways of seeing things. We are being gifted a powerful choice to grow, to perceive our life experiences and gained knowledge as wisdom.

How to navigate the energies this week

Fill up on self-love. Keep the mind at ease, notice the signals, body triggers, or other information that is notifying you when to make a shift.

Seek out your people. Connection helps us activate peace in the present.

Stay centered. Here is a small act that can help you stay centered no matter what the weather is bringing: Start your morning with your hands anywhere on your body that provides a sense of safety and comfort. Connect to yourself for a few deep breaths. As you move about your day, practice silently repeating the words “thank you” to yourself.  Repeat as the day ebbs and flows. Offer gratitude to help keep your foundation peaceful and present.

In the evening, as you lie down for sleep, place your hands on your body anywhere that may need calming or some extra love. If you have a partner, hold their hand. If you have a fur babe next to you, touch their paw. Connect and just breathe.

Affirmation: Every one of us is a gift to each other. Thank you.
